What are the Benefits of Alternative and Holistic Healing?

Article updated 03-10-2024

Taking care of your bodyHolistic Healing, Alternative healing,

In today’s world, people are recognizing the effects of what they put inside their bodies. There are many advantages to using alternative and holistic healing over typical mainstream prescriptions and medicines. Healthcare professionals are even becoming more and more open to alternative and holistic healing and the benefits they can have for the body.

Natural therapies

Holistic healing comes under alternative healing. As a whole, nature has an important role in using fruits, herbs, detox, and vitamins for purification, stimulation, and healing. The use of such therapies has gained popularity in recent times since they offer great health benefits to users. Many people are directing their attention toward alternative healing and natural therapies for the prevention of illnesses and solving their day-to-day health-related issues.

The focus of holistic healing is to encourage the person to strive for wholeness and healthy living with the goal being to gain proper balance in all aspects of life. Most people who opt for this type of healing are choosing these treatments because they are seeking a more natural approach to healing their chronic conditions. Alternative healing emphasizes whole-body care, addressing not just the physical body but also emotional and spiritual health. It can be beneficial to a person’s overall well-being, as the approach focuses on healing the mind, body, and spirit. Treatment methods can help a person to relax, reduce stress, relieve symptoms of depression, and release deeply repressed emotions.

Alternative healing looks at the overall health of your body. It focuses on healing pain and disease by balancing out other aspects of your life. Sleep, nutrition, and stress can affect your body, so adapting health plans with these in mind is important with alternative medicine.

Treating the root of the problem

Alternative and holistic healing treats the actual cause of a disease. One of the best advantages that they offer is that they heal the body and are designed to actually treat the cause of the pain or disease that has occurred. By understanding and treating the disease, alternative and holistic healing professionals can work at the root of the problem.  If you like this article please share it on Pinterest or another social media.

Alternative healing therapies used together with conventional medical treatments can alleviate some of the symptoms of cancer, as well as lessen the negative side effects of conventional medical treatments. Chemotherapy, although effective in increasing the survival rate of many cancer patients, can produce horrible side effects. Some cancer patients can tolerate chemotherapy treatments better when using an alternative treatment method to control side effects like nausea, aching, fatigue, headache, night sweats, and vomiting. Other illnesses that alternative and holistic healing can effectively cure include digestive problems, high blood pressure, infertility, and so much more.

What are the Benefits of Alternative and Holistic Healing?

A more affordable form of healthcare

If you are looking for a more affordable form of healthcare to deal with your health issue effectively, alternative and holistic medicine is the best option. They are usually much more affordable than other medical treatment plans. You’ll also be able to avoid the expense of multiple appointments and won’t be paying for surgery and expensive medications. Difference between alternative and holistic treatments?

To start, I would like to talk about the difference between alternative and holistic treatments, before we go into the benefits of these types of treatments. Alternative health is an alternative to traditional medicine. So modalities like Chiropractic will fall into alternative healing and not holistic because the treatment is focused on the physical body and not on the mind and soul.
So healing like acupuncture, Reiki, and Quantum-touch energy healing would be trying to heal more than just the physical body. And traditional medical community are not trying to heal and balance your chakras (Your body's energy flow). The chakras are all over your body and are believed to be energy channels both for physical health, and mental and spiritual health. We have 7 major chakras in our bodies and a total of 5 chakras outside of our body a total of 12 major chakras. This chakra system originates from India in organs from the teaching of Sanskrit. Just like if we are speaking of acupuncture or Chinese healing they have their own similar system of the meridian points. In comments have you had alternative treatments, Which one, and what were the results?

The world of alternative and holistic health is very vast and it can make you dizzy with the amount of variety of different types of healings. I am just focusing on the 4 most popular alternative and holistic health out there. There is a sea of alternative and holistic health out there. So, where should you start? A good place to start is what is my issue?

To try to see what modalities are the best at correcting my health issues or issues? Next, you may want to try a few different healers and modalities to see if just one works best for you. The best places to look for these services are search engines, and metaphysical fairs (psychic fairs) There will be a host of Reiki masters, Quantum-touch healers, and vibrational healers, and many people claim all types of healing services, and you think of yourself how is that even possible! But, I had an experience talking to some and found out years later she was highly reliable. I have to say use your best judgment and follow your gut.

Another place you find these healers is at or similar websites looking for a healer group or metaphysical or psychic group. There will be several healers more than happy to heal you.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a pressure point in your feet and hands that has a corresponding reaction or reflex to organs, glands, and body parts. By pressing the point with fingers or thumbs in your feet or hands the reflexologist can heal and detect an issue that the client is currently having. Like acupuncture but without the needles (acupressure).

Some may feel it is a less painful treatment. In fact, if you have health issues reflexology, can be more painful and less relaxing than acupuncture. One advantage reflexology has over acupuncture.

Reflexology can detect health issues early before the issue can become a major health concern. Where on the other hand acupuncture is a treat only mobility? Reflexology can detect inflammation in your feet, because the patient will react to the area of your feet by tensing up the feet, saying it hurts or making faces.

This inflammation will correspond to an organ, body part, or gland. One may need to have both a reflexologist and an acupuncturist to get the maximum benefits.

Reflexology can only discover issues not diagnose a health problem. I believe one needs to use a multi-modality approach to treat illness, Reflexology & acupuncture make a good tag team. This is from my own personal experience with reflexology.

What are the benefits of reflexology?

Stress and stress-related conditions
Tension headaches and migraines
Digestive disorders
Hormonal imbalances
Sports injuries
Menstrual disorders, such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Digestive problems, such as constipation
Multiple sclerosis
Back pain

In fact, Reflexology is not a new concept. It has been practiced as early in human history as 2330 B.C. by Egyptians and in ancient China. Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, an ENT, introduced his concept of "zone therapy" in 1915. American physiotherapist Eunice Ingram further developed the zone theory in the 1930s into what is known as modern reflexology.

What are the additional benefits of Reflexology?

Several studies conclude that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as stress and anxiety, and enhance relaxation and sleep. Given the fact reflexology is also low-risk, it can be an option for those seeking relaxation and stress relief.

Relieves stress and tension the medical community agrees that 75% of health issues can be linked to nervous stress and tension.
Improves nerve and blood supply. Helps create a state of homeostasis (balance in your body).

Reflexology through the reflexes and when done correctly can naturally help many health issues without the use of prescription drugs. Place in the comments have you or going to try an alternative or holistic medicine?

What is Reiki?

Reiki The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "the Wisdom of God or the Higher Power" and Ki which means 'life force energy.

Reiki practitioner places their intentions into the healing to heal the person to the highest and greatest good to all (“The All” meaning God or the Universe). This life force energy is called Chi in Chinese, Parma in Sanskrit, Ki in Japanese, and white light in the Judeo-Christian belief system. It does not matter what you call this energy it is there for all to receive this energy.

Reiki master has to go through training that is performed by Reiki Master Teacher and is given attainments to be able to pass on this healing to others. This training teaches the reiki student how to channel this energy into a reiki practitioner and transfer it to the client. Reiki practitioners will scan the patient by placing their hands over the patient and feeling for energy issues.

The reiki healing practitioner/reiki master can actually feel a change in the energy of the patient. This change in energy is a sign that the patient needs to have energy healing in that area until the energy feels better.
Reiki is a soft gentle energy that is very soft and relaxing healing. Many of our clients need most of the energy in their heads and feet. Since they are under a great deal of stress and or thinking much at work. They tend to be working many hours on their feet. This is the perfect healing for a deeper state of relaxation and calmness to bring inner peace and well-being.

What is Chiropractic?

The word “chiropractic 'means 'to be done by hand'.” Chiropractic is a health profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and nervous system, and how the effects of these disorders on patients' health. Chiropractic services tend to be used to treat neuromusculoskeletal issues including back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.

What is a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC)?

The Doctors of Chiropractic are often referred to as “chiropractors”. Chiropractors use a drug-free approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis & treatment. Chiropractors use a broad range of diagnostic techniques and as well trained to recommend therapeutic, rehabilitative exercises, to provide nutritional, dietary, and lifestyle counseling.

The Doctors of Chiropractic may evaluate their patients through clinical examination, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, and other diagnostic tests to determine when chiropractic treatment is appropriate or when another type of healing may work best. Chiropractors will refer patients to another appropriate healthcare provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient’s condition. The DC may also offer the patient a combination of healing with other health modalities or providers. In many cases, of lower back pain Chiropractic care often will be the best choice for the patients.

An alternative to Chiropractic may be quantum touch. I have personally provided relief from back pain and increased the mobility of joints using quantum touch energy healing. Quantum touch can move joints and even bones in proper alignment without the use of chiropractic manipulation. Some patients may find this positive if they feel manipulation, may ustmentprovide even slight discomfort.

What is (Adjustment) Spinal Manipulation

The most well-known service performed by a Chiropractic is spinal manipulation. (sometimes called to as a "chiropractic adjustment"). The main purpose of spinal manipulation is to restore the joint's flexibility by performing “manually applying a controlled force into the joint”. Which has become hypo-mobile, or limited in its movement? It is chemicals in the body that cause inflammation and pain. This is often done after a single event that has caused tissue injury. Such has to lift a heavier weight incorrectly or repetitive motion, doing the same activity over a long period. Restoring mobility will alleviate pain & muscle tightness, allowing tissues to heal. In turn, this will make the patient joint back to a state of normal or pain-free.

Many people might be scared do these chiropractic adjustments hurt? There may be some minor soreness or aching after a treatment. It is the same soreness that one can get from exercise. This usually goes away after 12 to 24 hours. One can allow using a sauna and or a hot tub to relieve some of this soreness. Compared to other modern treatments of for pain like pain medication, this a safe and effective treatment and 100% drug-free

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves inserting very narrow needles at certain meridian points in the body. The goal of acupuncture is to balance their energy. Just like the Indian system of balancing the chakra points. This will place the patient in a highly relaxed state I would like to think of it as a Zen-like state, or oneness with the universe. This calmness is to promote wellness and may cure illness.

How does it work?

In traditional Chinese medicine, they explain that health is the result of a balance between female energy yin and the male energy yang these life force energy Chi and qi. When they are unbalanced this is how illness results. In Chinese philosophy, they are thankful for diseases it shows the patient that there is an unbalance in their life and they just have to balance out their energy. This is a treatment for their disorder.

The Qi follows through meridian points or thinking of them as rivers of energy flowing through your body. Sometimes these flows get blocked or get resisted and then you might fall ill or don't feel yourself. The acupuncturist can access 350 different points in your body.
The very act of inserting the needs into your body along with meridian points, will unblock the energy and allow it to flow once again, and this will restore balance in the human body.

In 2003, the World Health Organization (WHO) listed several conditions in which they say acupuncture has been proven effective.

These include:
high and low blood pressure
chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
some gastric conditions, including peptic ulcer
painful periods
allergic rhinitis
facial pain
morning sickness
rheumatoid arthritis
tennis elbow
dental pain
reducing the risk of stroke
inducing labor

Other conditions for which the WHO says that acupuncture may help but more evidence is needed include:
post-operative convalescence
substance, tobacco, and alcohol dependence
spine pain
stiff neck
vascular dementia
whooping cough, or pertussis
Tourette syndrome

The World Health Organization suggests that it may help treat several infections, including some urinary tract infections and epidemic hemorrhagic fever.

Acupuncture can be beneficial in that:
Acupuncture is performed correctly, it is a safe and drug-free treatment.
Acupuncture has very few side effects.
It is shown to be effectively combined with other modalities.
It has been shown to control some types of pain.
It is an alternative for patients where pain medication is suitable.

What to expect when you go to the Acupuncture

The acupuncturist will ask you to fill out some forms and spend some time with you asking about your health issues. They will sit you down usually just doing a basic balancing of your chi. To ensure that you have a positive response to acupuncture.

The acupuncturist that I see will sit me down in a recliner, in a room that plays relaxing music and essential oils are being vaporized in the room. I feel that the room is full of positive energy.

There might be some slight discomfort when the needle is inserted, but at most points, you may not feel anything or very slight tingling.

Often the needle will stay in the patient for 5 to 60 minutes.

The frequencies of treatments depend on the patient. If it is a chronic condition it may be every second day to twice a week. For most acute conditions it is once a week for 6 to 8 weeks before it normally improves.

The cost for acupuncture is $70 per session and $90 for a consult and treatment on the first visit. But, other acupuncture clinics work on a sliding rate rule they can range from $25 to $50 and $30 to $60 for the first visit.

The best way to find out about good acupuncturists is by looking at search engines local listings often have a rating system. Asking people in a social group, or asking on social media. If that does not seem good for you. You can check out the website of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) or the National Commission for Certification Agencies (NCCA).
What is Quantum-Touch?
Quantum touch is an energy healing technique developed by Richard Gordon. It is a method of natural healing that works with the Life Force Energy of the body to promote optimal wellness. Life Force Energy, also known as “chi” in Chinese and “prana” in Sanskrit, is the flow of energy that sustains all living beings.

Through breathing and body awareness exercises, Quantum-Touch healer can focus and amplify their own energy, creating a state of high vibration. By cultivating this energetic resonance at a high (or refined) frequency, he/she aims to entrain the client's energy to a higher (i.e. healthier) level, thereby facilitating healing. This is accomplished through intentions, breathwork, energy sensations, and touch.

Using the Quantum-Touch techniques, a high frequency of life-force energy can be created. If this field of high energy is placed around pain, stress, inflammation, or disease, the body can entrain to a higher frequency, thus amplifying the body's ability to heal itself.
Quantum-Touch teaches us how to focus, amplify, and direct this energy, for a wide range of benefits with surprising and often extraordinary results. Your love has a tremendous impact to benefit those around you. It addresses the root cause of disease and creates the space for true healing to occur. Rather than just working on symptoms, Quantum-Touch will address the underlying cause of the disease.

Quantum-Touch actually provides healing energy for the practitioner as well as for the person seeking healing. Using the Quantum-Touch techniques, the practitioner can hold an extraordinarily high vibration; this high vibration not only influences the client but also provides healing energy for the practitioner. Rather than becoming drained from doing healing work, the practitioner will most often feel emotionally uplifted as a result!
